What colleges have you attended?
Okay, weird one today! What can I say to fill a post about where I went to college? It’s not there anymore and got replaced by houses? There was a garage over the road where I bought Reanimated by Linkin Park for £10 one time?
Well, it was an art course I did – Graphics and Illustration because I thought I’d enjoyed it in high school. I didn’t. I hated it and was bad at it, but the internet was fast and free so lunch breaks in the computer room kind of made up for that! Far too many hours spent on Neopets or Cyber Town (we made a mafia and got put in jail, okay? It was fun!)
So much more that I did a second course there, Web Design! That was far more interesting, though all of the tools I was taught to use are now ancient and long gone: Flash, Dreamweaver… Sleep well, sweet princes. I remember I made a presentation about my main obsession at the time, Final Fantasy X. It was cringe, people, very, very cringe. Got me a merit though, so there is that. We also used to sneak the word “chode” into every site or presentation we made, which was hilarious back in 2004.
Man, we were edgy.
Honestly, it was four years that I overall loved, teenage me had some great adventures in the era of Limewire, pirated PC games and secret multiplayer games of Medal of Honour: Allied Assault on the one PC that lived among all those Macs, and college was to thank for a lot of those adventures! This wasn’t the longest post ever, I shall admit… but if the muses don’t grab you, right?

Wow, I remember Neopets! Hahaha! That’s a blast from the past. In college and universities (I’m aware there’s a difference in UK English conversations), we do have mascots including the place where I graduated where the team was the Eagles. However, I went to a dry campus, so there wasn’t any crazy drinking. During my college/university days I went to a lot of concerts and was studying a lot of film-related things since it was part of my major.

I missed this comment, silly me! Its interesting how different the conventions are in education systems between the UK and USA, I love it! School and college here was so dull compared to the world of cheerleaders and mascots and spring dances! And agreed, Neopets was truly a powerhouse of the early 2000s!
