What is your favorite animal?
Animals. The world is full of them, right? Significantly less than there used to be (thanks for that, humanity) but still a good selection! But out of all of nature’s little projects, which one is best? I don’t mean fastest, strongest, cutest or best at chess, just which one resonates with me, you know?
Well I have two favourites and I can’t choose between them, which means you’re getting a cop-out double answer. My favourite animals are:
Yep, there you have it. Tigers and Okapis (both my pictures from Chester Zoo, might I add!)
Tigers are absolute GOATs (as opposed to goats, which they are most certainly not) because they’re smart, beautiful, elegant and honestly just built to look mean as hell. The answer to the eternal question “What if your pet cat, is big enough for you to be its dinner/brief entertainment”, the mighty tiger (be it Bengal, Sumatran, Siberian or whatever) just can’t be beat for me.
Secondly, we have the wonderful Okapi. Hailing from the deepest rainforests of the Congo, the Okapi is what happens when a creature gets made out of spare parts: the legs of a zebra! The body of a horse! The head of a giraffe! This wonderful creature wasn’t even catalogued by Western science until well into the 20th Century, which also makes it bloody fantastic at hide and seek too!
Oh, and honourary mention goes to camels because camels are also cool in a low-key kinda way. They carry their water on their back and have devilishly grouchy little personalities, I think they’re pretty neat, okay?
