Well, let’s start with the Google description of my name:

“Meaning: rock, rocky. Craig is a masculine name of Scottish, Gaelic, and Welsh origins. Coming from the Gaelic word creag, this name translates to “rock” or “rocky.” It also comes from the word “crag,” which describes a steep, rugged cliff that makes for a stunning sight on the Scottish coast”

Do I look stunning on the Scottish coast? Maybe? I did a few jobs in Scotland when I was a shopfitter/merchandiser, but nobody ever swooned or anything when I was standing near the Firth of Forth. Honestly, I do not know why my parents called me Craig. We’re about as English as anyone can get and have approximately zero Scottish heritage as far as I know. Wish I did though, the Scottish are cool and their country is absolutely beautiful!

I can’t complain though, they were originally going to call me Duane. Now, there’s nothing up with being called Duane/Dwayne in the year of 2024, mainly thanks to that massive Samoan bloke who did all that wrestling, and then movies. But being called Duane in the late 80s/early 90s, in the UK? You’re gonna get ribbing for being this guy:

So yeah, I dodged a bullet. But, at the same time, I’ve noticed that in the US Craig is a kind of cursed name. If there’s a loser character in anything, they’re usually called Craig (or Creg, as it’s pronounced over that way). Be nice to us Craigs, we’re actually really stunning if placed on the Scottish coast!
