It’s 2025 and, therefore, time for a new post on this blog I keep forgetting about!
I hope you’ve all had a most glorious new year and wider festive season, and that you all got cool stuff. I got a good few things, but my favourite present has to be from my wife – an experience to drive a real-life Spartan light tank! Anybody that knows me will know that I have a passion for history, especially around warfare and the evolution of weapons and armour (which might make me sound a bit bloodthirsty, I promise I ain’t). An opportunity to drive one of these Cold War era British machines is truly an honour indeed!

In return, I am bankrolling my wife’s present, a trip to this year’s Everything Electric convention down in Farnborough, including a stay at a rather fancy Golden Age of Aviation themed hotel that’s on the showground (it’s also an airfield). Everything Electric (aka Fully Charged Show) is owned by Red Dwarf’s Robert Llewellyn, and covers all of the ways that technology can allow us to live more ecologically. Their main moneymaker is electric cars, a subject that both the wife and I are deeply interested in.
Here’s a shot from 2024’s event up in Harrogate:

As for what I’ve been up to, 2024 has been a year of writing for me. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have four short stories published across three anthologies, listed below. Hopefully there will be even more coming along in 2025 (spoiler alert: there will be!)

Oh, I also went on holiday outside of the UK for the first time in 15 years (and my wife’s first time ever) – nipping across the North Sea to the Netherlands. We spent three days around Amsterdam and it was amazing, I can’t recommend this beautiful and fascinating city enough. Also, Dutch people are generally really nice!

Other than the anthology work, I’ve been a bit rudderless in 2024 (hence the no posts here) but I’m looking to get back onto it this year. I already have a review lined up for the release over at The Pixels, I am keeping up the writing in a wider sense and am otherwise feeling a bit more settled again.
As for this site, I’m not sure what kind of things to post. What would you like to see? Book reviews? General life musings? Stuff about video games or my interests?
Let me know, I’m a bit stumped!
My Twitter account will probably be closing down soon, due to the fact it’s now an ad-infested hellscape. But come and find me on Threads and Bluesky, I’m currently on those! If those Meta fake-ass AI users pop up, it’ll just be Bluesky I guess…
